Programs in UK for Undergraduates

The programs in the UK for undergraduates include about three-four years of full time study. There are some exceptions: some courses, for example Art and Design, may need five years of study, because they demand one to experience foundation-type courses. Such courses are accessible in the United Kingdom owing to the students’ work experience. They are so called ‘Sandwich Courses’. They include four years of study.

Undergraduate degrees are awarded in honors degree (in a single subject) or in combined or joint honors degree (in two subjects). B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science), B.A. (Bachelor of Arts), B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education), B.Eng. (Bachelor of Engineering), L.L.B. (Bachelor of Law), and M.B. (Bachelor of Medicine) are awarded degrees in the UK for undergraduates.

There are some universities which award MA (Master of Arts) and are equivalent to the student degree from other institutions. Such system lead to award two various awards namely, ‘undergraduate degree’ and ‘undergraduate diploma’. You have to study one or three year in order to gain under graduate diploma.

Diploma courses may involve a work experience’s period. The HND (Higher National Diploma) is one of the most usual diploma courses and takes two or three years.
