Master’s Degree in Germany
In German after completing general course of education there is a possibility to pass two years postgraduate program after which you receive second degree. And this postgraduate program can be very useful on the job market, especially on the international job market. German educational system offers different postgraduate programs:
- based on previous courses from the same or near field
- additional courses which give knowledge from other fields.
These programs presuppose that student should already have a degree, because such programs are based upon previous courses connected with chosen subject. But student without degree also have the possibility to take part in such postgraduate program if he takes part in this course at the university.
German certificate received after completion of post-secondary education is equal to Master’s Degree in the USA. For this degree it is necessary to pass successfully one of three comprehensive exams after 5 or 6 years of studies.
There are following Master’s degrees courses in Germany:
Master of Arts, M.A
Master of Science, M.Sc
Master of Engineering, M.Eng.
Master of Laws, L.L.M
Master of Fine Arts M.F.A. or Master of Music, M.Mus.
